We have reported in our August newsletter about the sad case of the wife who was not permitted to get divorced; despite being in a very unhappy marriage, as her husband did not want the divorce.
It has been announced that the Government is going to review the divorce laws as a result of the case. Any changes would be the first major change to the law on divorce in England and Wales for 30 years. It is interesting because this review comes only 12 months after the Government claimed that 'now is not the right time' for a full review of marriage law. What a difference a year and a Supreme Court decision can make!
We will report again on this issue if any changes to the law of divorce are introduced.
